New boss reveals plans for Michael Page

The incoming chief executive of Michael Page International is planning further global international expansion when he assumes the role later this year. Stephen Ingham, who will take over from the retiring Terry Benson at Michael Page's annual general meeting in May, revealed that the company, which operates in 19 countries, is looking at expansion into Mexico, Russia, the United Arab Emirates and Ireland, and further expansion in the US. “We are not only looking at a number of new countries, but also at expanding our presence in our current locations,” he told Recruiter. “For example, we only have five locations in the US. Ingham sees the supply chain, procurement and engineering and manufacturing sectors as the big movers for 2006. “Supply chain and engineering have huge potential for us next year,” he said. Ingham is upbeat about the coming year, and hinted that the company is also looking to expand its portfolio into the property and construction sectors. “Our competitors are doing it and are clearly having success,” he said. Ingham, who started with the company as a consultant in 1987, told Recruiter that his progression through the ranks to his new position was the “only way' to progress at the firm. “We grow both our business and people organically at Michael Page, and I wouldn't want to change that,” he said. Ingham has been promoted from the post of managing director of Michael Page's UK business. He first joined the company's board in January 2001.
