Construction sector — in Cape Town

Last month, Gemma Pope, consultant at rec-to-rec firm Aston Taylor, travelled to Cape Town as part of a project to help build homes for families in the townships to alleviate poor housing (see Diary of…, left). Aston Taylor co-sponsored Gemma’s trip, run by the charity Habitat for Humanity/Desmond Tutu Community Build, where over 120 people from across the globe took part in building 20 homes for families in the townships. Andrea Saunders, operations director for

Aston Taylor, said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for us as a company to support not only a very worthy cause, but one of our own too. It’s going to be fantastic to see and hear first-hand about what our sponsorship has aided, as well as seeing (and laughing at) Gemma in hefty boots and a hard hat!”
